Most of us might not have noticed Shahid Kapoor’s Bollywood debut in ‘Taal’ (1999) where he performed as a background dancer. Starting his career by working in music videos and advertisements, Shahid Kapoor’s rise to stardom is a story of hard work, perseverance and lots of talent.
A product of Shiamak Davar Institute for the Performing Arts (SDIPA), Shahid made his acting debut in ‘Ishk-Vishk’ (2003) which won him Filmfare Award for the “Best Male Debut”. The movie was an average performer at Box Office and collected gross revenue of over Rs. 10 Cr.
Shahid had his first commercial success with Sooraj R. Barjatya’s ‘Vivah’ (2006) and followed up with ‘Jab We Met’ (2007) and ‘Kaminey’ (2009), both of which earned him “Best Actor” nominations at Filmfare ceremony. With the right available mix of boyish charisma and dynamism, this talented entertainer has surely come a long way from his Pepsi commercial days he shot with Shahrukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukheri post ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ (1998).
